NUTRITION- RIGHT FOOD, RIGHT QUALITY, RIGHT QUANTITY
What is your favourite food and why?
How does it make your body and mind feel?
What is the purpose of nutrition?
Nutrition is deeply personal. Here, we go beyond boring protocols, calorie counting, standard diets and associated guilt trips. The body is highly intelligent. It bio-hacks its needs through taste cravings and direct bodily experiences. So, listening to our body’s cues is the best way to make eating, a blissful and nourishing experience.
Here’s a thought!
Humans have lived on this beautiful earth for 300,000 years. Did they calculate calories and macros to thrive?
They relied on something far more sophisticated and accurate- their own natural biological inclination and awareness of how food made them feel and function. Because, awareness of our body and mind is our most powerful and reliable guide to nutrition.
The knowledge is within you. Just like every other species, we have generational, encoded knowledge of the foods that suit our specific genetics and environment. It would therefore be wise to examine the lives of our forefathers in their environment and life around us to understand nutrition in a real way.
The illusion however is the prevalence of food mimics and the conditioning that has subverted our consciousness away from natural whole foods. We have in many ways, been programmed against our own nature, to eat our way to peril.
The first step to claiming back your power and your health is eating whole foods that are most suitable for you. It is imperative to develop the self knowledge and awareness to make healthy food choices. The principles of Ayurveda are very useful to revive our innate biological awareness.
In Ayurveda, we use the Six Tastes as a guide to ensure your meals provide the macro and micronutrients your unique Dosha requires. It can be complemented by our understanding of macro and micronutrients.
Nutrition is often the first, simple and quickest way to achieving dosha balance. It makes good quality sleep, physical activity, focus and a sound, steady mind possible.
A simple fundamental would be to consume good quality whole foods, freshly prepared meals in the right quantity.
